Sept. 2007 ~ Splashtown & Zoo

We hit Splashtown in San Antonio. Once again...the kids had no fear of the water and jumped right in! It was freezing cold, though, since it rained most of the summer. They didn't care...lips were turning blue from the cold, but they did NOT want to get out of the water!

This is one of only about three adult water slides that Brock was tall enough to go on. He went down it over and over. I thought he might be a little scared since it's so big, but nope, not Brock!

We went to the San Antonio Zoo and the kids had a blast. They both really seem to like animals...Ryan more than Brock, though. Brock would look at each animal for a total of maybe 10 seconds and then he was off! Ryan stood there and looked at each one so long that we had to literally pull him away to go see the next one!

Aug. 2007 ~ Swimming & Popscicles

We had a great summer this year. We went to the pool...a lot. Brock & Ryan LOVE the water and going down this little slide. We have found that neither of the boys really have any fear whatsoever of the water, which is a little nervewracking at times! Ryan saw Brock stick his head underwater so many times that he decided it couldn't be too hard and started doing the same thing!! The first time he did it, Steve and I rushed over to help him up (we thought he had tripped and fallen into the water). Just when we got there, he stood up and started laughing...then did it over and over!!! They are still asking to go to the pool!

They also found a love for popscicles...and I found a love for mid-afternoon baths!!!

Safaris and Dinosaurs

We went to Fossil Rim Safari Park in Glen Rose, TX, in July. The boys had a great time feeding the deer and other animals. It was a lot of fun to drive through the park and get to see the animals up close.

I think the boy's favorite animal was the ostrich. It was scary and funny at the same time. Even now, if you say "ostrich" to Ryan, he will tell you all about it! He'll say, "Osich, osich. Bam! Bam! Bam!" Click the link below to see our Ostrich Encounter!

The following link is a video of Ryan talking about the ostrich, showing his Incredible Hulk impersonation and saying, "Thank you." You can't see it very well on the video, but when he does his Incredible Hulk, his whole body shakes!! He's been doing that since he was just over a year old.

We also went to Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose. They have actual dinosaur footprints in a riverbed. It had rained so much that we only got to see a couple footprints in the riverbed. The park had excavated this chunk of the riverbed that had footprints in it, though, so we got to see how big they really were! They also had a life-size T-Rex and Brontasaurus. It was very cool and the kids had a great time. They also have a great campsite that we plan on going back to!

July 2007

We went to the George Bush Presidential Library for July 4th. I got this great picture of the boys in front of the fountains.
Brock was in a soccer camp this summer and did really well.
It was very hot, but he had a good time anyway!

Ryan just tried to stay cool as we watched Brock play soccer!

I guess it's now becoming a tradition that when the Brockman family gets together, the boxing gloves come out!!
This has now become one of my favorite pictures of Ryan! Brock's first tree-climbing experience!

June 2007

We painted our living room in June and the boys wanted to help me. They each got to paint a little bit on the wall...after that, they didn't want to do anymore!!! They had a good time and liked seeing what they had painted.

Ryan found one of my visors and thought it looked good a different way....

Ryan and Brock both took swimming lessons this summer. They love the water, whether it is the pool or the bathtub. Neither are afraid of water and both of them had a good time. They also learned a lot! Ryan will now put his head underwater and pop back up and Brock attempts to swim when he's at the pool. Brock can also go underwater and pick up an object. It was a great experience for both of them. We're so happy that we've got them accustomed to the water at an early age.

This is Brock doing a back float on the first day of swimming lessons...he hated it and wouldn't let go of his teacher.

This is Brock on the last day...notice that his teacher is barely holding him up by one shoulder. He really learned a lot this year!

May 2007

We went to Gramma and PaPa's house and Ryan loved playing on their riding lawn mower. Anytime we were outside, he and Brock were playing on it!

It rained a lot in May and one day, we let the boys play in the backyard. It wasn't long before they found the perfect mud puddle to get dirty in! They had a blast and now whenever it rains Brock asks if they can jump in the mud puddle.

Apr. 2007

We went to the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco and had a great time. Brock rode this little barrell train about 5 times! He loved it! Me? I rode it once...definately NOT made for adults! (Awesome zoo, by the way. We definately recommend it for little kids.)

Ryan loved this rocking chair. It was a perfect place to sit, take a break and eat some Goldfish.

While the rest of us were sitting in rocking chairs, Brock was going down this slide that went underwater.
This video is of a black bear that was so funny!!! He is definately a "crowd pleaser." He did this to Brock several times. It was great!

On the way home from the zoo, we saw this entire field of bluebonnets. It was gorgeous and we were lucky enough to be able to take some pictures of the kids.

This is a little kiddie pool in our backyard. It was the first time we had gotten it out this year and the kids had a blast.
