July 2008

July was a very busy month...as you will see from all the blog entries. Here are just a few pictures of my two little cuties. I love them more with each passing day. God has truly blessed our family.

Ryan's hair NEVER stands up like this. He has great hair and it's rarely out of place. So, this one time, I had to get a picture!
I finally got a new oven after three years of dealing with the old one we had. This is the first time that I had been able to bake cookies for my kids since we moved in. They helped from start to finish and were so proud of themselves and happy to finally have some yummy cookies!!

Our Backyard is SOOO Cool!!

We love our backyard for many reasons, but one of them is all the animals that live there. We have the usual birds: bluebirds & cardinals and we have some squirrels.
We also have a lot of lizards and geckos.
Recently a family of bunnies has moved in.
But the all-time coolest thing we've ever seen in our backyard is this spotted owl! He has come to visit three times and is such a beautiful creature. We really loved watching him...and watching him watching us!!

A short video of our spotted friend. I apologize now for my dorky comments...it was just such an amazing sight to see in our own backyard!

Swimming Lessons

The boys took swimming lessons again this summer. They are such little water bugs that they really had a good time.

Are these our next Michael Phelps?

Ryan sure has a fierce dog paddle! :-)

Brock is a mean swimmin' machine!

Brockman Reunion

My brothers and I (and our families) got together this month. We had a great time and hadn't all been together in about 2 years. We had a blast...water gun/water balloon fights, playing some basketball & ping-pong and just being with each other. Here's just a few pictures of the boys while we were at my brother's house.

The Brockman Ladies Ambush

All the men went for a golf outing one day and my sisters-in-law (and me) decided to ambush them when they got home with water balloons and water grenades. To prepare ourselves, we put war paint on and manned our battle stations. It was pure genius, if I do say so myself. They expected nothing when they pulled up and we began pounding them! We barricaded ourselves...behind fences, in the house...it was great. I was upstairs and my sister-in-law, Michelle, even sat on the roof with the water hose. We even got our 90-year old aunt in on it Once again...PURE GENIUS!

A quick video of the mayhem when the first car pulled in.

4th of July

We had a good 4th of July. We went to the George Bush Presidential Library which had a lot of games and things for the kids to do. Ryan does not like loud noises and since they weren't starting their fireworks until 9:45 (which is way past the boy's bedtime!), we decided to come home and let the boys have some Sparklers in the backyard. They had fun and still got to see fireworks.

A quick video of the boys with their Sparklers!

June 2008

We went camping at Cedar Lake in Oklahoma this month. We got a great spot and the lake was really pretty. However, this is NOT a good place for those of us who are allergic to cedar!!! I haven't been around that much cedar in years and had forgotten that I was allergic to it...until we got to Cedar Lake. It was not pretty...sniffling, sneezing. That wouldn't have made for too bad of a camping trip until midnight. The craziest windstorm I've ever been in occurred. We were all sleeping soundly (at least the boys and I were) when the wind picked up and blew like I've rarely seen. (I am from West Texas, you know!) It was unbelievable for about 20 minutes and then it stopped. About 30 minutes later it did the same thing. It was pretty wild. Needless to say, it was quite the camping experience!

The Boys Drinking Guiness?!?!? Can you believe that Steve already has the boys drinking his favorite beer, Guiness?!? No, only kidding...it's Coke, but we thought this was pretty cute! :-)

Cowboy Ryan We don't get many pictures like this!! We have a vine growing up some of our trees in our backyard and the boys love playing "Tarzan" on it. Check out the video or the "Tarzan boys." Keep in mind that they're doing this AFTER playing in the sprinkler!! They had a great time!

May 2008

We went to a great playground when we visited Steve's parents in Oklahoma. Brock is now able to do the monkey bars all by himself and is very proud of what a big boy he is!Ryan having fun on the zip-line.
When we got back from Gramma & Papa's house, Brock was very sad and missed them a lot. I told him that we could paint them a picture and send it to them. So, they went to work on their masterpieces the next morning.

A video of their hard work and pictures of their masterpieces.

Soccer Champs

The boys were in a soccer class this year. Brock has been in it for a couple years now, but this was Ryan's first. The classes are really great and only teach the basics (dribbling, passing, kicking). There are no games and no competition. They really liked it and did pretty good! The boys with their trophies.

Here's a video of their last day. They had an agility/obstacle course and also practiced their dribbling skills. Ryan hasn't quite understood the concept of not using your hands! :-)

More Disney Photos

We ordered a CD of the professional pictures that were taken at Disney World, so now we can share them as well!
Here we are at Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom!

One of Brock and Ryan's favorite movies is "Peter Pan." So, they were very excited when they got to meet Captain Hook and Smee. They only wished they could meet Peter Pan, too.
In front of the "Big Silver Ball," as Brock and Ryan called it at Epcot.
Brock's other favorite movie is Toy Story 2. They are both huge Buzz Lightyear fans. We stood in line to meet Buzz and Woody and get their autograph. I love the look on Brock's face as it's finally their turn to meet Buzz...his smile says it all.
